Toronto Raptors Officially Unveil Their OVO “City Edition” Jerseys

When Nike came on as the official sponsor/designer for the NBA this season, they quickly reimagined decades worth of tradition as it related to classic “home” and “away” stylings on uniforms.

This continued to be the case as the brand rolled out a series of “City Edition” options which marked the boldest designs we had seen to date – featuring touches like an homage to the NYFD with the Knicks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the Grizzlies, and Kobe Bryant with the Lakers.

The Toronto Raptors remained one of the lone franchises whose “City Edition” remained a mystery until today.

Presenting an homage to its prodigal son, Drake, and his OVO imprint (for the second time) – by borrowing from the black and gold color scheme on the latter’s logo – the change marks something that the Canadian media has suggested might happen since 2014.

Although it is unknown when the Raptors will unveil the uniforms on court, we have to imagine that Drake will be there to support the project which features additional city-centric love like a six-pointed chevron representing the six boroughs of Toronto.
